Kumeu River

Since 1944 the Brajkovich Family has been been learning, crafting and refining such that today they are internationally recognized as producing world class wines.
The film A Seat at the Table opens with a tasting in London, with some of the world’s best palates in the room, pitted Kumeu River’s Chardonnays against the best of Burgundy. Mate’s, Hunting Hill, Coddington and Estate Chardonnays were put into line ups of Premier Cru and Village Burgundies. Kumeu River came first in every flight bar one where it came first equal.
With vineyards west of Auckland and now in Hawkes Bay the Brajkovich family craft a range of wines that epitomise grace and elegance. Subtle, powerful with mouth-watering flavour and superb length, these wines are sort after the world over.
Winemaker Michael Brajkovich MW was top of his class when studying winemaking at University in Australia. He went on to become NZ’s first Master of Wine. Ably supported by mother Melba, brothers Paul and Milan and sister Marijana, the Brajkovich family have helped put NZ on the world winemaking map.
As Lisa Perotti-Brown MW, wine critic of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate said “If you can taste history, duty and family pride in a glass it’s there in the Kumeu River Chardonnays... now producing some of NZ’s best Chardonnays, if not the world’s.”
