Chateau Toutigeac

Situated on rolling hillsides in the heart of the Entre de Mers district of Bordeaux, the Mazeau family have been farming grapes since 1928.

The family owns 3 estates in the district. Chateau Toutigeac is a 40 hectare property 29 kms south east of the city of Bordeaux and has been in family hands the longest. In the 1970s the family purchased the adjacent 20 hectare property and renamed it Chateau Pradeau-Mazeau. Just down the road is the third property Chateau de Hartes where the average vine age is 35 years.

The vineyards are planted in a mix of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon supported by small amounts of Semillon and Muscat.

Today the properties are run very much as a family affair with father Phillipe Mazeau ably supported by his daughter Oriane as winemaker and son Zavier, in charge of sales and marketing. Not one to waste an opportunity, Zavier manages to combine his love of surfing with market visits around the globe.

In his younger days Phillipe was a serious competitor in European Eventing Tournaments and can often be found riding one of his beloved horses through the family vineyards.
