Champagne Taittinger

The beginnings for what was to become one of France’s most prestigious Champagne Houses were seeded back in 1734 by the original founder, Jacques Fourneaux. Just over two hundred years later the link to the Taittinger family was made and a dedicated tradition of producing some of the finest wines in the region securely established.

Employing environmentally friendly techniques to produce grapes from their 288 hectares of vineyards Taittinger Champagne is characterized by a high proportion of Chardonnay grapes. This, combined with a longer ageing process than is strictly required, gives the wine a lightness and delicacy which has become the hallmark of Taittinger Cuvees. The wines have a subtle elegance with an underlying persistence of flavor and length that see them score consistently well in international tastings as well as with sommeliers from around the world.

Unique wines in the portfolio include Les Folies de la Marquetterie a single vineyard wine taking its name from the stunning chateau located on the family property, and the midnight blue label of Prelude Grands Cru, made from 50% each of Chardonnay and Pinot Noirs all from Grand cru vineyards. Some connoisseurs rate this as one of Champagnes greatest treasures.

Comtes de Champagne, the star of the Taittinger stable, is sublime, it is the pinnacle of what Champagne can be in a glass and its flavours linger long on the palette long after the final drop.
