CARM is a family-owned business located in the oldest demarcated region in the world – the Demarcated Region of Douro & Port Wine, on the Douro River. In 1966 Celso Madeira planted the first Douro vineyards on levels built with a bulldozer. In 1995 he reconverted his activity to organic production methods (currently controlled by STIVA). Their goal is to produce high quality olive oils, and wines, using only olives and grapes from their estates, with approximately 200ha of vineyards, 220 ha of olive groves & 60 ha of almonds located around the village of Almendra, in the best part of the Upper Douro, included in the Côa Valley Archaeological Reserve.
Proud of their achievements, their history is made up of lived and shared memories. With foundations in the past and a view towards the future, it's about growing, living and growing.
